      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

      I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

    Cat Show Tails

    As I’m sure many of you know by now, I breed pedigree cats. Our purpose is to maintain and promote the breed. Part of that process is to enter our little darlings in cat shows where they can be judged and hopefully win awards. The big difference between dog and cat shows is that with cat shows, we can’t run around a ring with our cats on leads. I wish we could! There are several cat breeds that will happily walk on a leash. In fact, it’s pretty much a requirement for Bengals and Savannas, which need a lot of exercise and stimulation. However the one thing I think all cat breeds have in common is their independence. They’ll walk on a leash, but where they want to go, not where you want them to go. So while it would be very entertaining, it would be chaos to have a bunch of cats walking around on leads. They would also fight. We’ve had two shows within a month which gave me the opportunity to show all my cats. The first show was in Niagara Falls as part of the Pet Expo. It was two days, running on a weekend. The second show was in Belleville and was only a one day show since it coincided with the awards banquet, which took place on Saturday. Now I’ll use the pictures we took from the shows to explain the structure, what the judges are looking for and show you the expressions on my cats’ faces as they tolerated the judging process. First, let's start with the Pet Expo floor in Niagara Falls: From that view, the cat show area was in the top right. The next picture is the cat show area. This show had four rings, or judging areas. All the participants are in show cages, or kennels on tables. Some shows will provide cages, but they aren't very good, so it's best to buy your own. We prefer the soft-side collapsible kennels, like the burgundy one at the front in the picture below. Show Mechanics To show your cat, they must be registered with the organization running the show. In this case, that's the Canadian Cat Association (CCA). Even household pets can be registered and shown and we regularly get quite a few people doing that. Then you fill out the entry form for the show. Once your entry is confirmed, you are assigned a number for each cat (or kitten). When you arrive at the show, you're given a catalogue that lists all the registrants and the show schedule. You look for the category for your cats so you know where you need to go and listen to the announcements for when your cats are called to the ring. Each cage in the ring will have a number on top and you place your cat in the appropriate cage. Judging Pedigree cats are judged based on their conformity to the breed standard. Each breed has a published standard and one of the really interesting tasks as a breeder is trying to judge how well your six week old kitten adheres to the standard. They change a lot and all breeders will tell you about the stories when they sold a champion. You just hope that when you do, at least you sold him or her with breeding rights and not as a pet! If you think you have a high quality champion, you want to keep that animal in your cattery and have them as part of your breeding program. In addition to the standard, cats are also judging on grooming and personality. Cat shows are beauty pageants and some cats just don't perform well in shows. My queen, Ada, is a perfect example. She hates shows and doesn't perform well. She is also small, so some judges may feel that she doesn't conform to the standard. The breed standard for British Shorthairs doesn't say anything about overall size, just that everything should be in proportion and they should have a cobby body. Cats are judged by multiple judges because each judge has different things that they consider important. Champion Status This only applies to pedigree cats. Once your cat has been judged by four judges and has not been disqualified by any of the four, you cat attains his Champion status. After that, he needs to beat out other Champions to gain points towards his Grand Champion status. Once he's attained that, he needs to beat other Grand Champions to earn his Double Grand Champion. After that, it's Master Grand Champion and then finally Supreme Master Grand Champion. You need to attend a lot of shows for several years to attain the higher ranks. Now let's get back to pictures! Once our numbers were called, Jimi and I took our cats to the ring and put them in their judging cages. Male cats are always separated by female cats or empty cages to prevent fights. Then the judge takes each cat of the cage and brings her to the judging table. Here's Curie being judged: Sharon is checking the proportion of Curie's ears and head. Curie's cage is number 22 in the background. Kyra was number 23, Kyan was 24 and Pascal was 25. It was Kyra and Kyan who did the best at the Niagara Falls show. Here are some pictures of Kyra being judged: The judges liked Kyra's rare colour and the quality of her coat. She also has a nice round face. As you can see, Kyan just wishes this was over. One of the judges checked Kyan's testicles (to make sure they've dropped) and so after that, he tucked his tail between his legs when each judge picked him up. One judge laughed and said "You'll get the hang of this". The judge checked him because technically, he's still a kitten. They don't do that with adults because if there was a problem, they couldn't breed. Anyway Kyan did very well. He has a nice plush coat that's very soft as well. His face needs to fill out more and if it doesn't, we'll get him neutered and keep him as a pet. Finally here are some pictures of Pascal. Pascal is an interesting case because his body is very good for a British Shorthair, but his markings aren't true. He's listed as a Silver Ticked Tabby, but he has some spots. Not enough spots to be called a Silver Spotted Tabby however. So he won't do well with any judge that knows their colours and markings, but not all judges do. He was ranked highest by one judge who felt body structure was the most important factor. Once the judges have seen all the cats for each breed, they start awarding ribbons. Here is Curie, Kyra and Kyan with the ribbons on their cages: They all get the red and green ribbons because they were the only British Shorthair cats in the show this time around and they all had different colours. The judge in this case awarded Kyan with best of breed and Kyra got second best of breed. None of that means points however. The really important part is when each judge picks their favourites among all shorthair cats and among all breeds. All breed means all cats, no matter their breed. Overall Standings Here are the awards my cats won at the Niagara Falls show: Curie - 7th best All Breed Kyra - 10th best Shorthair, 8th best All Breed, 9th best All Breed Kyan - 8th best All Breed, 5th best All Breed, 9th best All Breed, 10th best All Breed, 8th best Shorthair Pascal - 7th best All Breed There were eight judges in total and every single judge chose at least one of my cats in their finals rings. Here are some pictures showing the plaques they won on their kennel ribbons: That's Pascal and Kyan sharing a kennel and the picture below has Curie and Kyra sharing the other kennel.     There's definitely GOG support for OBSE. You just have to download its own particular "latest" loader. It works great. Oblivion from GOG has no DRM, no overlays, it's already LAA so you don't have to use the 4gb patcher, it includes all DLC, and you can get it for $10 if it's on sale. It's a no-brainer for people who don't own Oblivion yet, and even for people that do I still suggest it highly.

One time when I took one of my old Brits, Britannia, to the vet, she was purring while the vet was trying to listen to her heart. The vet had to put a dab of alcohol on her nose to make her stop purring. Just a minute ago, I heard the fans in my computer really ramp up and I was wondering what was making them run so hard. One of the kittens was sleeping on the radiator!!!

I sliced this city out of my larger Elsweyr Anequina mod for those who want a small preview of the Elsweyr mod or just a city to visit and use as a base half way between Bravil and Leyawiin. DESCRIPTION ================ IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ THIS! 1. Do not install this mod with Elsweyr Anequina. The city of Rimmen is already part of the Elsweyr mod and you can't install two copies of the exact same city! If you later wish to install Elsweyr Anequina, then uninstall Rimmen first. 2. You must have your in-game borders disabled or you won't be able to reach the new region. See the installation instructions to learn how. ================ 2. REQUIREMENTS ================ A. The in-game borders must be disabled. See installation instructions below. B. The latest official Oblivion patch is needed to run this mod. ================ 3. INSTALLATION ================ 1. Extract the files to your Oblivion/Data/ folder. There are only two main files - Rimmen.esp and Rimmen.bsa -, so the mod is very simply to install and uninstall! The DistandLOD folder is optional. It won't allow you to see the city at a distant (you need to run TES4LODGen to achieve that), however, it does fix the distant view of the trees in and around the city to match the actual tree placements for aesthetic purposes. The Rimmen - Voices.bsa is also optional. It simply slows down the dialogue screens. The NPCs aren't actually voiced. 2. Check the file Rimmen.esp in your mod lists. 3. The in-game borders MUST be disabled. This can be done either by-- A. By switching the "bBorderRegionsEnabled=1" to "0" in your Oblivion game ini file. You can find this ini in your folder My Documents/My Games/Oblivion. The setting can be found near the top of the ini file under the heading [General]. B. Or by installing a border removal mod, e.g. "Borderless Cyrodiil." 4. (Optional) If you wish to see the city in the distant view run TES4LODGen after installing this mod. Distant view for new types of architecture is dependent on load order, so you need to generate these yourself. If you ever change your load order run it again as the records are load order dependent. TES4LODGen is very simple to use! Just double click on the file exe from the download. 5. (Optional File) If you wish to see the domed palace tower building in the distant view (as seen in my screenshots), you can download the optional Palace FarNif Patch file and run TES4LODGen with that in place. However, it is just a copy of the palace mesh, not a properly optimized _far.nif file, so it is not recommended unless you wish to have tower visible for screenshots and the like. This patch can also be used with the ElsweyrAnequina mod which uses the same file directories and names. 6. (Optional) If you wish to create a character using any of the new races download the Custom Race Fix mod, which tweaks some of the vanilla quests to allow for new races. ================ 4. TROUBLESHOOTING ================ 1. "You can't go this way, please turn back" message means the borders haven't been disabled yet. See the installation instructions. Its just a matter of changing a single digit in a text file. 2. Game Crashes Make sure you have Bethesda's latest Official Patch installed. Also make sure that the Rimmen.bsa file, which contains all of the required meshes and textures, has been placed in your game's Data/ folder. ================ 5.     After speaking to Iliana, the plan of Elsweyr Pelletine will be as follows: The Anequina quests will be left intact. You can play them now and won't need to worry about updates touching them. My edits to the Corinthe player home will be removed. The next release will have bug fixes and the last 3 locations for the entirety of Elsweyr to be finally completed. I haven't yet spoken to Deeza about permissions to use the 2 questlines documents and use them in this mod but I will do so.

    Things don't get baked in the save in Oblivion, as much as later games, so you should be fine playing both now. The incompatibilities between the two mods are near the road between Torval and Dune only. I should be able to fix that this week.

    Dura gra-Bol's House Reclaimed - And the Grab-All Gang View File  This mod started as a simple house mod and expanded into an entire smuggling faction questline - while still allowing you to choose the high road and be rewarded for killing Dura as instructed. Get to work with Larrius Varro again as he sticks his nose into more of Vvardenfell's dirty business. Or choose the profitable path of a smuggler and climb the ranks from a meager Amateur to the Boss. Earn dirty money. Or kill those dirty money-makers. Rent a house from the biggest druglord on Vvardenfell. Or legally purchase your new home and wipe the slate clean. Adds a non-faction method of starting the Dura gra-Bol bounty quest: talk to Larrius Varro after completing his Bloodbath quest. He’ll give a larger bounty (Fighters Guild takes a percentage) but no faction reputation Adds option to spare Dura gra-Bol if you accept her deal If you decide to kill Dura gra-Bol, you can purchase her house. It’ll be renamed so you can wipe that criminal’s name from your memory and your items won’t be marked as stolen from the containers any longer. You’ll also get a few extras in the house if you go this route like a “Realistic Repair”-ready anvil in your armory along with some housewarming gifts (mostly booze because, let’s be honest, what else would you really want?). Dura offers the player a business proposition to cover up her smuggling operations. Become the formal Head of Operations for a local smuggling gang and collect your weekly cut (assuming some corrupt official doesn’t need to be paid off). Rise in the ranks of a new smuggling faction. From an amatuer to a smuggling boss. Complete illicit quests for Dura to earn bonuses. Earn a larger weekly cut of the profits by completing quests and climbing the criminal ladder. Have the lease to Dura’s house transferred into your name and assume residency. The layout and features of Dura’s house has been overhauled. Still not extravagant, but matches the exterior better and adds a basement for additional storage. Clear the smugglers out of the sinkhole below your new home and maybe find some hidden secrets in your new cave. See if you can find the rat hole! Customers in Balmora want more than just skooma and moon sugar; find some unique cursed items among the contraband. Including one which will take you somewhere unexpected... Adds the sleepy fishing village of Bo-muul to a new island in the Bitter Coast which is more than it appears. Depending on which side you take, either work with the smugglers living in Bo-muul or cleanse it entirely with another Bloodbath sponsored by Larrius Varro. Get involved with political intrigue as the corruption of Hlaalu officials come into the light. Acquire a magical belt which was unobtainable in the original game if you choose the right path. Discover that Larrius Varro is a member of the religious Talos Cult. If you side with Dura, use that information against him! Explore a new area of Arkngthand teeming with new types of Centurions standing between you and those profitable dwemer artifacts! Fixes the dialogue entries which refer to Dura gra-Bol as a “he” (perhaps those commoners can be excused, it’s a common mistake with orcs) Lightweight, 100% vanilla mod.  To start the new questline, either get to the Fighters Guild stage with Eydis Fire-Eye where you're sent to kill Dura gra-Bol, or complete Larrius Varro's Bloodbath quest to get the bounty quest from him and then talk to Dura before you gut her. If you decide to side with Dura, just keep following that questline. If you decide to kill Dura after all, talk to Larrius Varro to get some more work.     I have already posted this on AFK Mods, so I thought why not have the same thread here. Although, I didn't added a unsorted loadorder on AFK Mods. Not sorted BOSS LOOT Note, I gave up trying to mod the Steam version of Oblivion due for various reason e.g stupid application error, some errors with WB as well etc just to mention a few reasons why I gave up trying. Feel free to post your result of sorting a loadorder, with a lot of mods, in both BOSS and LOOT then post it in this thread just to use it as a reference when updating the masterlist for both BOSS and LOOT.

    Oblivion - Steam version

    You have to use CBash to build your bashed patch when you use Arthmoor's DLC Delayers. It's a filter mod, so it has to be merged into the bashed patch and only CBash can do that. The python version (of the bashed patch) can't. I'm only using a couple of the DLC's and it works fine.

    Hi @Terrorix, I moved this to a new post since it's not really Oblivion XP related. Since you uninstalled BTMod, you'll have to also uninstall Oblivion XP and anneal your Dark UI BAIN. Then install Oblivion XP again.

    I'm back working on DBC. I've already squashed a bunch of bugs and have added a new option for completing a certain nasty contract that I think people will really like. The last quest in Awakening needs to be rewritten in preparation for Consequences so you'll need to play through the mod again if you've finished it already. Sorry about that, but with the fixes and the voice acting, hopefully you'll be keen to check it out again. The big fixes in this release involve preventing some changes DBC makes to certain characters from kicking in too soon. If you have Awakening in your load order now, I recommend removing it and waiting for the new release, unless you're partway through the quest line already. If you are, stop playing before you have to turn in the dagger. There was a logic loophole that I missed previously. I've also fixed up our locations so they can either be visited before the mod starts or they are inaccessible, using various methods to hide them. I've also balanced the goodies out a bit more. Some chests were grossly overpowered and I've corrected that, while a big dungeon with a certain vampire didn't have enough goodies. I've also added a bit of "backstory" by making a location available to visit and clear before DBC starts. Then when the associated DBC quest does start, the state of the dungeon makes more sense.

For example, taking care of our favorite paranoid Wood Elf in Skingrad will net you a better reputation with the town's citizens, in particular with the three people the Wood Elf targeted. On the opposite, botching a Thieves Guild job will lower your disposition with your guildmates and probably the factions linked to that quest, if any. Note that these changes are done in a separate script, meaning that no changes have been done to Oblivion's vanilla scripts, therefore making this compatible with mods that change Oblivion's quests. ================= Quest mechanics ================= - Time limit Most quests must be completed in a limited time. Some are days, others are weeks. Bandits won't hold someone hostage foverer. You'll always be informed of the time limit. Failing to complete the quest in time will result in failure. - No essential NPCs. No essential items Indeed, most of the related quests' NPCs can die and most quest items can be dropped or sold. For most quests, the death of quest NPCs will result in failure. Don't worry though. The NPCs stay inside cities so the only way they could die is if you had a hand in it. For items, you'll always be able to tell the NPC you lost the quest item, resulting again in a failure...but that could be a lie and it'd allow you to keep the items for yourself. - Skill checks in dialogue In most quests, you can bargain your reward using Mercantile. You may also be able to use Speechcraft. To identify skill checks, you will see [M] or [ S ] before your answer, for Mercantile and Speechcraft, respectively. Having Luck of 60 or more helps with skill checks. - Voiceless, choice-based dialogue Most of the quest dialogue is choice-based, allowing you to ask questions about the task, accept or refuse it and bargain your reward. Some topics are also added when, for example, you ask around for directions to one of the NPCs or a location. Finally, all the new dialogue is not voice acted. - Pre-quest, present-quest and post-quest rumors People will have rumors to say before the quest, during the quest and after the quest. They vary depending on the outcome, if you fail or succeed the quest. - On the importance of faction relations Some of the quests have optional paths if you are a specific faction member or if you have good relations with them. For example, in A Noble's Debts, being a Thieves Guild member or having good relations with them will allow you to receive a letter from the Guild to give you hints on where the lost loan is located. - No new dungeons or locations Quests NPCs are placed inside the game's cities and the quests take place inside vanilla locations only. The dungeons used for those quests are existing Oblivion dungeons that have no quest linked to them. This allows for greater compatibility, preventing conflicts with mods that add new locations or change the landscapes. - Rewards Most quests reward the player with gold, others give not too powerful magical items. All quests give a faction relation bonus/malus with the city in which the quest takes place or the factions that were implicated in the quest. For example, helping a nobleman from Cheydinhal will give you better disposition with the nobility in general and the people of Cheydinhal. On the opposite, botching a quest or betraying your quest giver if the opportunity arises will drop your disposition with the related factions. After all, the quest giver will talk about how good or bad you did his job with his friends and neighbors. - Difficulty Most quests use Oblivion's leveling system for difficulty as I believe it easier for balance. Some NPCs are fixed, though. Overhauls that changes Oblivion's default leveled lists for equipment will work with Tales of Cyrodiil. - Oblivion XP integration Users of Oblivion XP will be rewarded for completing quests, succeeding at skill checks in dialogue and will receive a small amount for failing quests. - Optional quest markers By default, quest markers for Tales of Cyrodiil's quests are disabled. Sufficient descriptions and directions are given to find a location or an NPC. If you still want to use quest markers, you will have the option on the first quest you accept.     Craftybits 0.812 Bug Reports

    The model's hatch window is translucent in-game, but only enough for movement of the steam and fire effect from the Fire Salts to be vaguely discernable through it. It's dark enough inside that no one could identify whether or not there's food. It's easy to just delete the AlphaProperty node in NifSkope to get rid of that, though. I could make it so it could be opened, I think...probably. I've never worked with making hinge animations. Certainly not during the busy season with my job, unfortunately...and even then, Oblivion's collision is too wonky to put food on the grate inside without weird bouncing.

    This is my busy season at work, so I sadly haven’t made much progress on this project. I’ve removed/fixed some floating objects, and I have the dialogue / diary entries for about 5 quests prepared...but implementing the quests’ scripts and making them actually work in-game isn’t my strong suit, especially when my time is limited. I end up going down rabbit holes trying to make everything perfect and it just doesn’t get done. Ideally I could get some help, but I think most people interested in that sort of thing are already busy with a project. Next update will have more floating stuff fixes, and hopefully all least a couple small quests.

    Canadian woman wins Nobel Prize for Physics. Women rock! As a graduate student, Donna figured out how to make lasers more powerful. Previously, a powerful laser would destroy the equipment used to generate it. Donna lengthened the laser beam, which made it dimmer and then increased the strength of the lengthened beam. She then compressed the beam back again, making for a more powerful laser that’s now used in laser eye surgery and tumour treatments. Talk about thinking outside the box!

    Chrome is a pain in the ass. It does that for all sites without SSL. I have a certificate for my cattery site, on the same server, but I can't get one for TAL until we switch the forum software. You need an active license to change the URL that the forums use.

    TWMP Elsweyr Valenwood Improved WIP

    One of the three WIP Bosmer City house styles, this is a "Dummy" cell to use as a template for the rest of Elden Root, etc...eventually. You an get an idea of the size, my character is sitting on the mushroom chair I made on the top level. It's...really hard to find furnishing for this architecture. Oblivion's artictecture uses a lot of 90* angles or cylinder shapes, so the furniture and wall stuff doesn't really fit the curves here. On the bright side, it's almost safe from the Hounds of Tindalos!

    TWMP Elsweyr Valenwood Improved WIP

    Ponyrider0 on the Tesrenewal forum created a Tes4edit script that can resynchronize disconnected LAND and PTGD records, so that quickened things exceptionally. The .esp is “done”, in that all the major cities are accessible and most of the dungeons & settlements are accessible. The new path grid set isn’t done though, so NPCs will probably wander against walls and stuff. I’ll release a Very Beta Beta sometime this week, I hope. Also almost done adding collision to Eressea’s Bosmer Tree City kit that I converted for @Sifonseal last year sometime
