      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. Games on Sale

Not really a sale, but Bethesda is giving away freebies in some of their games. I got some nice goodies in Fallout Shelter and Elder Scrolls: Blades. It’s to celebrate the Gamecom event.
  2. [RELz] Oblivion XP

Oblivion XP View File Oblivion XP Update Version 4.4.5 Oblivion XP Update is a full update to SirFrederik's Oblivion XP mod. It has several bug fixes and script optimizations that utilize the new features and functions available in the newer versions of Oblivion Script Extender. This version offers significant performance improvements over the previous versions. This is a complete self-contained package. It does not require the original Oblivion XP - everything is included in this update. This is being released as an upgrade to the original Oblivion XP mod because the changes are quite extensive and with most of the scripts being completely rewritten. Existing users will be able to install this update and continue with your current games. You should not lose the progress you have made. You will need to follow the upgrade instructions in the readme file because the location and contents of the ini file have been changed. Description For those unfamiliar with Oblivion XP, it is a levelling system replacement. The Oblivion levelling system is based on skill use to improve the skills themselves and their associated attributes. However, for many players this has turned out to be a tedious exercise that forced them to use skills that did not fit their roleplaying experience in order to improve certain attributes. It also required a certain degree of "micromanagement" if you wished to get the maximum attribute bonuses when you increased in level. Oblivion XP aims to change all that. It brings the experience point reward system to Oblivion. You gain experience points for performing a variety of actions, including completing quests, killing monsters, picking locks or discovering new locations. When you accumulate enough experience points, you will gain a new level. Upon gaining the new level, you spend points to increase your attributes and skills. You no longer improve your skills by using them. You earn experience points by action and spend an allotted number of points on skills and attributes to improve them, anyway you wish, when you level-up. SirFrederik is the original author of this mod. He devised the mathematical formulae that control the number of points you need to level and the number of experience points you receive for various actions. The system he designed is complete and operates as a balanced and comprehensive unit. I will not be altering any of this underlying logic. He also made Oblivion XP extremely customizable through settings in the ini file so that this system would work with a variety of playing styles. Important Notes Oblivion XP 4.2.0+ requires OBSE 21 Beta 3 or above. shadeMe has added a custom event handler that allows major performance improvements over the previous versions. It also requires MenuQue version 15 or newer. See the readme file (Oblivion XP Readme.pdf) in the download for the installation instructions, a full description of all the changes and other important notes. Requirements: Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) v21 or higher - http://obse.silverlock.org/ MenuQue version 15 or higher - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/32200/? Friends of Oblivion XP Friends of Obivion XP is a prestigious group of mods in which the mod authors have taken the time to build Oblivion XP support into their mod! When you complete quests in these mods, you will be awarded experience points. Oblivion XP only has a small amount of work to do to process these points, so performance is greatly improved. Also, this code is only run for mods that you actually have loaded and if the mod author changes the mod, you will get those changes as soon as you download the new version of the mod! 3. "Bad" Movie Suggestions

I’d say you know what you’re in for with that one.
  4. Star Trek - Discussion

Yeah but for an RPG, story is important! How are you supposed to RP?
  5. Star Trek - Discussion

Thread cleaned up. Now back to the topic at hand: I finally took a look and it's too bad the story isn't better. I was bemused to note that even people who liked the game did so because of its silliness. They also thought the story was terrible.
  6. [RELz] Oblivion XP

Oblivion scripts run on a continuous cycle so each script has to finish before the next one in the queue can continue.
  7. [RELz] Oblivion XP

I suggest removing it as Oblivion XP and other mods test for it already. Testing for OBSE can be tricky and you need to be careful how you do it.
  8. [RELz] Oblivion XP

What’s OBSE Test Plugin? Get rid of P1DKeyChain - it’s buggy and you don’t need it with Darnified or DarkUId DarN. Don’t forget to rebuild your Bashed Patch each time you make a change to your load order. You might find the errors go away once you remove the key chain mod.
  9. Signing in and reporting for duties!

Sorry guys, RL sucks right now. Jimi is getting better, although the last chemo treatment has really hammered his ass. He just got out of hospital. Thanks for the poke and please poke me again if I don’t get back to this next week.
  10. [RELz] Oblivion XP

Yeah as soon as a script hangs, it stops all other scripts from running. Ob XP’s scripts haven’t changed in years so they aren’t the cause of the errors. I’ve investigated these before and I think it was Arthmoor that explained the issue.
  11. Star Trek - Discussion

Yeah I’d heard about that before. We have the series on Blu-ray and I think they talked about it a bit in the special features at the end.
  12. Star Trek - Discussion

Yeah but we always see men trying to portray women. Having said that, I think they did a good job with Kate Mulgrew doing Janeway. But I don’t get Michael at all. She drives me nuts.
  13. [RELz] Oblivion XP

It’s not Oblivion XP. It’s another mod higher (loading before Ob XP) that’s got an OBSE scripting problem. That causes OBSE to stop processing and you get errors in some random mod later in your load order. Sort your load order with BOSS and create a Bashed Patch. If that doesn’t work, then you need to start removing mods until you find the culprit.
  14. Missing .ini files(?)

Ob XP is fine with custom classes so I don’t see why Cobl’s changes would be any different.
  15. Missing .ini files(?)

Yeah I’d try installing them again. You might have to customize Wrye Bash. I believe that the default is to have the mods folder outside your Oblivion installation so that you can use the same set of mods with several game instances. I’d check the WB readme. Personally I have a Bash ini file to change the WB mods folder to be in each Oblivion game instance. If Wrye Bash seems in order, then have a look at how to install mods with BAIN. You might find TESCOSI helpful, although some of the instructions are probably out of date. Tomlong’s general mod installation instructions still apply and her section on installation order for mods is extremely helpful and still applies. She has a lot of information on installing mods with BAIN.
  16. [RELz] Rev's Tiny Chest

When you want to upload a new version, just edit the previous version. The forum software will show the new version and update the release thread for you. Please don't delete files as that may cause errors if people have links to your file.
  17. Missing .ini files(?)

So you've got Oblivion\Data\ini as directories and all the ini files are in that directory? Where do you have Oblivion installed? If it's under Program Files, then Windows might be interfering. Don't install Oblivion to Program Files - it needs to be able to write to the installation directory and Windows won't allow it. I recommend something like D:\Games or C:\Games. If it's not that, then it could be a permissions issue, but that would be a first that I've heard of.
  18. Star Trek - Discussion

That could be. The one thing in particular that I don’t like with Discovery is the more advanced ship design and technology than what they would have had at that time. I was wondering how they were going to explain the disappearance of the spore drive, because there was no way they would hang on to ST fans if they continued to have that as an option. Voyager is my favourite ST series, from season 4 onwards. The first three seasons were horrible!
  19. Missing .ini files(?)

Nope, it wants data\ini too. If you’re installing with Wrye Bash, it should be creating the directories and putting the files there. Are you running the installation wizards? You should be running the wizards from the Installers tab in Wrye Bash.
  20. The Beaverton

I kid you not, that’s exactly what it’s like for my husband and I, but our roles are reversed. He’s on blood thinners, so he’s always cold. He’ll be dressed in flannels while I’ve got shorts on. You can always tell the multi-generation Canadians: shorts and t-shirts while recent immigrants from hot climates have parkas on. It makes for hilarious pictures in the spring and fall.
  21. The Beaverton

Warning: Watching these videos will seriously bend your brain, especially if you are American. Consider yourself warned. The Beaverton is a Canadian comedy show that picks on “news”. It’s no holds barred and will offend a lot of people, as intended. For example, they had a skit on tonight’s show with a native Indian that said that they would only be happy once we gave up half the Canadian territory. Yes, shocker! We are having a battle with our indigeous people. They also like to pick on Trump (who doesn’t?). This is super Canadian, but you might find some common ground. You’ve been warned though!
  22. BEX Crashes

I'm getting BEX crashes with Oblivion when I leave an interior. I found this work-around and it has reduced them a bit: -In Control Panel click on System then - Click on advanced system settings >Performance / Settings Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Click Add, and browse to the executable file for the program and add it. I have to quick save every time I'm going to leave an interior. Very annoying.
  23. Star Trek - Discussion

So you’re bitching because the new crew has a lot more female representation? As you point out, TOS focused on three characters: Kirk, Spock and McCoy. Only Kirk and Spock were bridge crew. All were male. What about the rest of the bridge crew? Did we ever get a focus on Uhura? No, of course not! Her biggest contribution was a kiss with Kirk. Ironically we got a lot more background on Uhura from the series reboot. I loved that scene, btw. The whole point of Discovery is Michael, so if that pisses you off, watch something else. The producers proudly pronounced she was the point of the show. I didn’t see anything else in the trailers for the show. One point I do agree with you and Vorians on is how she magically became the adopted child of Sarek. I really think they could have picked a different Vulcan when the producers decided that was a requirement. As far as I’m concerned, she has to die to have any chance of matching Star Trek cannon.
  24. Random Stuffz

I haven’t seen Dracula Untold, but most Dracula movies are talking about Vlad the Impaler, the son of Vald Dracul and not Dracul himself. This would be the first I’ve heard of to confuse the two.
