      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. [RELz] Oblivion XP

Just edit the Ob XP ini directly. Not everything is in the wizard. The ini file has explanations of all the settings right in the file. The readme also explains the settings and how they impact the game. Don’t use other tools to modify your skills or attributes. Ob XP has to have complete control over them. Elys Uncapper doesn’t alter your skills or attributes, it alters the game engine so it can work with the higher values of your skills and attributes as modified by Ob XP. I have no idea if the mod is working correctly or not. What is your character’s level? Please read the Ob XP readme. I suspect your character isn’t at a high enough level to permit you to increase your skills and attributes. You can’t use other tools to change your skills and attributes because Ob XP has an internal record of the values.
  2. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

We actually wrote the program years ago in BASIC for DOS. I’ve been trying to find the source code so I don’t have to reproduce the logic, but it looks like it’s gone. Jimi works full-time so I’ll have to do most of the coding. He’ll help me with the logic.
  3. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

I’ll post about it once we’ve released it. Until then I want to keep it secret.
  4. [RELz] Dark Brotherhood Chronicles: Awakening

You might get a kick out of the change log that I've got so far then. Warning: SPOILER ALERT! The big fix was a loophole in my logic that had some stuff in Awakening kick in before it should. Now you can install Awakening as soon as you start a new game and it will just sit quietly... waiting...
  5. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

It's just a solitaire game. However we have a unique method for changing the difficulty that I've never seen in other games. Bethesda has actually released several patches for Blades. I just hope they can open it up a bit more. There is one interesting feature. The dungeon dives are little quests or jobs. You're tasked with collecting six portions of glow dust, for example. Well when you're done, a dialogue box pops up giving you the option to complete the quest or continue to explore. You can continue to explore to loot the last bit of treasure from the dungeon. Once you're done, you can pick Complete Quest from the menu. In any case, when you complete the quest, you are teleported back to town. I like the fact that you don't have to trudge back through the dungeon again. Although they made most of the dungeons circular anyway, so if you do finish it, you usually wind up back where you started.
  6. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

Just encountered my first real bug. I was unable to apply a poison to a weapon. After trying three times, I got “Lorem Ipsum” as an error message and all my poisons, of that particular type, disappeared. I reported the bug. Just a minor annoyance, although I did spend gold and materials to create that potion.
  7. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

Also, I read in an article (it might be the one I linked above) that Bethesda had already made $500,000 on Blades. That was a while ago. We’ve got to get our mobile game done!
  8. [RELz] Dark Brotherhood Chronicles: Awakening

I recommend holding off until the new release. Unfortunately I’ve hit a snag due to an engine limitation so I haven’t worked on DBC for a while. I’m trying to find a work-around. If you do play through the current version, you have to redo the last part of the mod. I’ll suggest to people that they play the mod over again due to all the bug fixes, new ways of completing some quests and the voice acting.
  9. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

It’s certainly the norm for mobile games. I play a few others and they are all geared towards you continually spending money on them. I’m at the point now where I won’t spend any real money at all on them. I might spend a bit of money on Blades, but I would cap it and only do it once. At this point though, Blades just doesn’t have enough content to make it worth it. The only part of the game I like is rebuilding the town. That’s a real grind though because it’s hard to find enough materials. You need tons of limestone and you only get a few pieces at a time when you do a dungeon dive.
  10. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

Now I understand all the complaints about chests. You have a limit of 10 chests. That’s it, so you can’t continue the game until you’ve waited six hours for a chest to open. Or you can pay 10 gems to temporarily increase your limit, but there aren’t many gem rewards. Obviously the plan here is to force players to spend real money on the game to buy gems. I guess I’ll continue playing tomorrow. I’ve got other games to play.
  11. CTDs due to streamline(???)

You must have followed the instructions in the Oblivion XP readme. I tell people how to make OR compatible. I wish Leo would stop saying you can't use OR with Ob XP. If you're not sure, have a look at the compatibility section in the Ob XP readme.
  12. CTDs due to streamline(???)

I believe the Citadel door fix is also available via a Bash tweak.
  13. CTDs due to streamline(???)

Have a look at TESCOSI for instructions on how to post your load order. See the Troubleshooting section on the home page, on the right hand side.
  14. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

Here is a good article on how this game is a money trap if you’ll let it. I only play a few minutes at a time and play other stuff while waiting for stuff to finish. Even I’ve had chests pile up and I’m only level 13. I suspect I’ll have to quite entirely soon or only play once every few days. It’s just not worth spending real money on. I like rebuilding the town, but there are only a couple of dungeon layouts, so it gets tiring real quick. There is one thing I do like! You can create poisons once you build an alchemy shop. Unlike other TES games, the poisons seem to be a character ability rather than attached to a specific weapon, and you can have more than one. So if you use the equivalent of weakness to fire and weakness to poison potion, they last for a few minutes and affect your enemies no matter what kind of attack you use. However if you use a fire spell or a poison spell, or use a weapon with the appropriate enchantment, the damage is much greater and lasts for several strikes and/or spells. Now there are no ranged attacks, so your spells can be interrupted and backfire.
  15. CTDs due to streamline(???)

Streamline can cause CTD’s. I don’t use it because I never got any benefit from it and I experienced CTD’s. Specifically, it can be a problem if you mess with the advanced heap settings. It really depends on your configuration. If I recall correctly, Arthmoor was able to configure it with advanced settings and it really helped his game.
  16. OH NO!!!!!!!! Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France has been destroyed by fire. I’m not Catholic, but I love the architecture and art in old churches and cathedrals. We didn’t get a chance to see the cathedral when we visited Paris. This is devasting.

Things may not be as dire as they looked earlier. We’ll know more in the morning. It looks like they saved the stone towers and part of the roof. Hopefully the rose window is undamaged. Last I heard, they said they wouldn’t know for sure until the morning.

    2. Leonardo

      Leonardo

The news about the fire is hot news in Sweden and some religious communities has already began to collect money for the renovation of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

A Swedish news reporter who previous covered France said that the Fire Department in Paris was praised for their job and that probably minimized to damage.

I guess will all have to wait and see what happens.

There are several billionaires in France who are competing to pay for the restoration. Basically several of the big fashion and cosmetic companies, so it will get rebuilt. I am pleased, and somewhat shocked, to say that they were able to save a number of artifacts and paintings. Even the organ survived, although they aren’t sure of the extent of the water damage yet. It didn’t get burned though. I can’t believe they lost the roof, but so much of the interior survived. Thankfully much of it is stone, so they were able to save it. I just remember from past travels that I saw so many churches and castles destroyed by fire because they were mostly made of wood, or even if they had a mostly stone construction, they just collapsed. It would seem that taking 300 years to build the Notre Dame has paid off. Good on them and something to remember.

Oh, and the rose window survived.

  17. Kitties!!

Around here the mixed breed dogs are really popular. People will spend $3000 for a mixed breed dog, but not even half of that on a purebred cat.
  18. Kitties!!

I’ll get my cats spayed and neutered once I stop breeding them. That will probably be sooner rather than later. There are way too many kittens available and people don’t care about purebred cats.
  19. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

I’m pleased to say that some things never change, including the weird positions NPC’s die in.
  20. Elder Scrolls: Blades Early Access

The game just got updated and it looks like Beth is listening on some points. They addressed the biggest two complaints: silver chests now take only an hour to open and if you spend gems to open a chest, you are now asked to confirm the purchase if it costs more than 11 gems. Previously it was too easy to hit Open Now by mistake. They also made a few other changes including improving the rewards in the abyss levels that are below the character’s level.
  21. Kitties!!

No, I have to keep them separate. Darwin lives upstairs and Pascal is downstairs. We have a glass wall and they jump at each other through the glass!
  22. Kitties!!

I’m not sure if I posted this before or not, but these are the “stud pants” that I have to use on Darwin and Pascal. Having two intact males is not recommended practice unless you have a very large cattery, but I couldn’t pass on the opporunity when I saw Darwin and Curie listed on a classified ads site. https://www.perfettopeterbald.com/product-page/stud-pants They really look like a thong!
  23. [RELz] Oblivion XP

    That’s why they were created.
  24. [RELz] Oblivion XP

So? 33 points is hardly going to matter. Besides it's a KR issue, not an XP issue. The wiki is your friend. Look at the very last line under Notes. You should probably read through the whole thing.
  25. [RELz] Oblivion XP

The absolute maximum would be 255 because all that stuff is stored as a short integer.
