      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. For the first time in the long history of the series, I’m watching Doctor Who. I caught an episode after watching something else and really liked it, so I’ve gone back and started watching from the end of season 10 when the old Doctor moved on, as it were. I’ve tried watching the series in the past and it was just too campy. The new doctor is funny and engaging.

  2. We had to disable registrations due to the high volume of spam. I can create an account for you. The site will generate a password and email it to you. Shall I use the same name and email that you used for the forums?

Yo, I'm new to the forum. I joined because of the Morrowind Modding Wiki. I'm also on DoomWorld under the same alias. How's everyone doing?

I've been playing TES for over a decade. I started with Morrowind yada yada. I've made quite a few private mapsets for vanilla Doom 1/2. I've been modding my Morrowind game and fussing with utilities for a long time. I recently got into using Morrowind's editor and have been playing with interior cells and reading a couple scripting guides. I'm also interested in modding/level design for source engine games like E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy and Vampire the Masquerade.

I'll check this site every little bit to catch any updates. I like forums and think this place could definitely attract some players if it gets updated a bit more. Does this forum have push/desktop notifications?

Yes, you do that by following threads that you’re interested in. However our emails are often flagged as spam. One of these days, I’ll be switching to other forum software, so the features will change.

  4. Welcome to TAL, Half11. I’ll send you a PM so that you get an email notification once I’m back. I am in the process of recovering my PC now. I don’t know yet how much I’ll get back, if anything.

There’s always going to be debates when it comes to patches. There’s no way of knowing what Bethesda intended and I bet that even if we were able to ask them, they probably couldn’t tell us. We’ve even had some debates among the team.

Our process was to merge Thepal’s and Quorn’s patches, go through all the changes they made and then decide which changes to keep. In addition to that, we have a large number of fixes contributed by various team members. I don’t know Morrowind very well, so my role was to do a couple of change reviews and to look after the master file by merging the patches submitted by team members. I just finished the last change review I had claimed a couple of months ago, but real life has been hectic so I haven’t been able to upload the latest version of the master file. Then my PC died, damaging the hard drive. That’s the recovery process I mentioned. There is an old version of the master in our private file area, so I can go back to that if needed. I hope I don’t have to as I did make a number of changes since it was last uploaded.

If you could check in periodically, that would be helpful as our email notifications are often flagged as spam.

  5. I wasn’t attacking anyone and if my comment was interpreted that way, my apologies. I was referring to the change reviews. We had to go through all the changes made by Thepal and Quorn and decide if they were valid changes or not. It took a LONG LONG time and Leonardo never participated in that process. Leonardo has repeatedly reported this project as dead or suggested that it be moved to another forum and I am very tired of his comments. We could release it in its current state and that would already be a step ahead. If I could get my machine working and import all of Amenophis’ fixes, that would be a BIG step ahead and probably worthy of an initial release.

  6. My PC has died. Originally it was the cooler, but replacing the cooling paste fixed it. However the hard drive has been damaged. That drive has the UMP on it. I have been trying to fix the drive for the past few days. Hopefully I can recover it. Anyway the plan has been for me to apply the patches that have been submitted by various team members. Then I was going to give the master file to Fritz so he could apply his script fixes. My preference would be for others to take over from there as I have several months if not an entire year’s worth of work to do on Black Marsh. My original role in the UMP was to help with the master (in terms of merging patches) as I don’t know very much about Morrowind.

  7. There are lots of various patch mods. Our purpose was to combine the two most popular patches, that were done years ago, into one mod and add a few more fixes. I can't comment on the other patch mods as I've never used them. Our mod will have a complete change list so people will be able to decide which one they would like to use. We did invite some of the other patch mod authors to join us, but they wanted to do their own thing. We are all "senior" modders who have been playing and modding TES games for a long time, so we're pretty familiar with the game and engine mechanics.

  8. We are much closer this year though. All but one of the quests have been written and Ibsen is working on the last one now. Once he’s done, I’ll start adding them to the mod. We still need a couple of creatures and a couple of towns/cities to be finished.

  9. It’s been a good one for us so far. Canada won the Spengler Cup and our juniors are doing well. Yes, my life revolves around hockey. Jimi is doing well and we’ve started working on getting the “office” fixed up.

I’ll have some news regarding TAL soon. Black Marsh has been very active and we hope to release it this year.
