      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. Earlier today I heard on the Swedish radio that Marie Fredirksson passed away, mostly due for suffering of a brain tumour she got back in 2002. RIP Maire, we will always remember your soft voice.
  2. Happy Birthday Andalay!

Happy birthday, Anda! I hope everything is okay with Jimi.
  3. Yep, that's what I get when I visit Nexus a few minutes ago. What happen?
  4. I would appreciate if there was information about why login has changed in the login prompt. Personally, I don't like when things like this suddenly change without knowning why. Anyway, I reset my password and now I am logged in.
  5. [WIPz] Unofficial Morrowind Patch

Thanks, Jac. I don't recall we fixed that during my time in the UMP project. However, I think there is a mod for fixing that on MMH. Later I discover that the Stahlrim Spear doesn't exist in-game, but I'm not entirely sure if resources for that weapon exist in the Bloodmoon.bsa or not.
  6. The future of GHF and MMH

    Reposted from GHF
  7. Custom Creature from Morrowind Format to Oblivion, (invisible?)

Did you get every required tool for that tutorial, even the tool(s) that's linked to the civfanatics forum? You might find this interesting about Paint.NET.
  8. Unable to save a game

Yes, it could be what is causing your "not being able to create a save" issue. Where is Oblivion installed? Also, check how much diskspace you have left as that can sometimes prevent you from saving your game. Maybe your diskdrive are too fragmented and to correct that you need to defragment the diskdrive. I use Auslogic's Disk Defrag (freeware) and I haven't got a single issue for years.
  9. Tools and Utilities for Morrowind

Every mod that's been released since 2002 has been created by The Elder Scrolls Construction Set (TES CS) and all functions in TES CS worked up to Windows XP, when the integrated WinHlp32.exe (you need that to open Windows Help File) was removed in later Windows versions. In order to open TES CS Help File you need to install a WinHlp32.exe patch, but doing that might require a Genuine Windows check so just do it before downloading the patch if it's necessary. The most common used tools for both modders and mod users are listed below. BSA Browser - It's a tool similar to the BSA Commander for Oblivion, but it has a couple of other features listed below. bsapack - It is what it is to pack mod files into a BSA. BSAReg - Register any BSA file that exist in the Data Files folder into <path>MorrowindMorrowind.ini so mods can work properly. It's free to be distributed. If you cannot register BSA for Tamriel Rebuilt in BSAReg then use the BSA Registration Utility. GetMWRoot - Search in Windows register after the path for the latest installation of Morrowind. BSA Registration Utility - It does the same thing like the old BSAReg, but the BSA Registration Utility has some useful features. Please note that downloading requires registration (not on MMH and on TAL). LOOT - The 0.14.6 version LOOT now supports Morrowind. Should you find anything that needs to be fixed then go to AFK Mods and post. mlox - Is similar to what BOSS is for Oblivion to sort your loadorder. escog - This tool is used when you want to get rid of both evil GMST's or harmless GMST's and it's recommended to remove GMST's, but always check the readme first because some mods is cleaned even with GMST's. Enchanted Editor - Is an advanced editor and has a lot of features that other tools doesn't have, but it's old and hard to understand how it works. TESFaith - It's a tool that you use for moving exterior cells from one cell to another cell. TESTool - Is most basic tool there is and you must use TESTool to clean mods with merged objects, but remember sometimes TESTool can create more problems than fixing them so always backup your files. The Elder Scrolls Advanced Mod Editor - Is a powerful cleaning tool for modders similar to TES4Edit as a cleaning tool, who use TES Advanced Mod Editor before they release a mod or a patch. TES Mod Utility is another tool similar to TESPCD, but I don't know if anyone are actually using it. TES Plugin Conflict Detector - IIRC you can use TESPCD to clean mods, but it's an excellent tool for troubleshooting similar to what TES4Edit is for Oblivion. TES Dependency Tool Kit - You can use it if you need to either add or remove a dependency for a mod for example an updated patch between two mods. Morrowind Plugin Manager - Is very easy to use for both installation/uninstallation of mods and it also support mp3 files, but it doesn't support .7z archives and Wrye Mash have support for both 7z, MP3-files (only the latest). Wrye Mash 84 - It's the last development of Wrye him self, but now has both Wrye Mash Stand Alone, by Melchor and Wrye Mash Stand Alone, by Yacoby been released. Everything is now on MMH except for Yacoby's WMSA. More information here and here. A couple of other tools can be found with the Wayback Machine so please be patient. Here is a list of other useful tools. abot's list of tools GhostWheel's Tools I've probably forgot a lot of tools, but they're the most used for mods in Morrowind today. Please let me know if you know something that's either incorrect or missing in the OP and I'll update it asap. All links to ElricM and FilePlanet (via PES) are no longer working and if you have a mod that was previously hosted on ElricM then PM me your findings or post it in this thread. All links are now updated. If you cannot open an archive and have tried with both 7Zip and WinRAR without success then give peazip a try.
  10. I've searched for Stalhrim Spear on UESP without finding any information. I even checked the CK and it seems Bethesda never added the Stalhrim Spear weapon to the game. Although, I haven't checked the resources in the Bloodmoon.bsa yet. Despite that Hidar can make a Stalhrim Spear, but somehow I doubt that. Becuase if there is no Stalhrim Spear to be found then why did Bethesda even included the Stalhrim Spear in Hidar's dialogue.
  11. [WIPz] Unofficial Morrowind Patch

Hidar has an infinite loop after clicking the Stalhrim Weapons topic then click on "Nevermind" in her dialogue.

  14. How to get past games to run

IIRC, the Elder Scrolls Anthology edition includes both Arena and Daggerfall.
  15. Missing items

You mean the Storage Sacks mod is similiar to what the Bags of Holding mod is for Morrowind.
  16. Missing items

Yep, what Anda said it is an engine bug and the only solution I know of is to take a couple of items out of the container and soon the item in question will be back in the container. A word of advice. I often drop the loot I wish to sell in the same spot as the travel marker is placed in-game near Vilverin, which is safely close to the bandits.
  17. I posted over at AFK Mods, so why not repost it here too. I read everything and I think Sigurd is right, automatic mod installation tools is the future and are here to stay until something else replaces it someday in the future. However, I have my doubts the Wabbajack mod installation tool will work, because there is one thing halgari seem to miss and what I am talking about is what policy external hosting sites has. For example, Mediafire is a well known and reliable hosting site and have served a lot modders for a long time, but there are other hosting sites e.g MEGA, ModDB, GameFront (resurrected here) just to mention a few and I know there are a lot of other hosting sites out there. But most of them are not known in the TES modding community, not that I am aware of. Every external hosting site has a policy in which can be changed anytime and sometimes without a warning or without question asked. As I recall it that is what happen on the old GameFront site back in 2012/2013 I think it was when they suddenly changed their policy for every hosted file to actually delete all files that haven't been downloaded in a period of 90 days without a warning in advance. How I know this has to do with some mods a TW modder (now retired) hosted on GameFront (old site) and when I wanted to downloaded a mod or mod tool all I got was a message saying "The file is missing..." or simliar and soon a lot people on TWC discover a lot of missing mods on GameFront over 1 year before GameFront was shut down in early 2014 I think. Sorry for a being a little long winded, but I felt that I needed to explain why I doubt the Wabbajack mod installation tool will work. Anyway, I don't want to be pessimistic without suggesting something else. What I suggest is to let a community site, like AFK Mods (I am not saying AFK Mods should take care of the Wabbajack tool), handle the Wabbajack tool and doing that might be beneficial for a lot of people. No drastic changes without knowning what have changed will happen, unless the host have stop hosting a site.
