      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  2. With version 0.9.5 of The Brotherhood of Old now out, here's hoping there will be an end to these ceaseless bug reports.

"Hey here's this new bug that I found that doesn't make any sense at all and no one else is reporting and I have no idea how it happened or how to reproduce it but please fix it k thx!"

I did find that there could be some odd timing issues that would affect some folks and not others. I've got a few to fix in DBC with the next release, for example.

  3. #changethechannel

If he was reading private conversations that really makes me question why I got a threatining PM from him. He thought I was involved in some conspiracy to steal intellectual property from modcraft and threatened legal action against me even though I hadn't been involved in the DBC team management for some time at that point. Dude was crazy I guess.
  4. #changethechannel

Oh my god, modcraft was such a shit show. The amount of gymnastics I had to do to get that damn darkbrotherhood.com website in order was infuriating. They had this horrible theme that they bought that they insisted on me using but it was such a broken, ugly looking piece of shit that I would have had to be some kind of wizard to make it work. In the end I just rebuilt the entire site from the ground up because it was so bad. They also had some really questionable stuff stored on the server for the site that I won't specifically get into... Those people were a nightmare to work with. Not to mention that any time I needed to get something done I'd have to go track "him" down on the vent server and butt into whatever fucked up conversation they were having. Then there was the whole part about me being threatened by Mr. Marine Moneybags when you guys were trying to split when I didn't even know what was going on. I have more but before this becomes the Modcraft horror story thread, I'll leave it at that.

  7. The Brotherhood of Old A Dark Brotherhood quest mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Betrayed by your own sister, the fate of the Dark Brotherhood rests upon the edge of a knife. As the Listener to the Night Mother, your mind has been plagued with troubling dreams as of a late. Among these dreams, a set of instructions, you are to end a family line that could destroy the Brotherhood forever. Buried deeper within those dreams, therein lies hope for the future. You begin to rebuild the Brotherhood, adding in many assassins from all walks of life. Locked away within one of these acolytes, flows the blood of a Legendary Speaker from days passed. The secrets within their blood will change the Brotherhood forever. As you mold this descendant into a weapon, the Brotherhood becomes respected throughout the land once more. But with this respect comes fear, and with that fear many come out of the woods to destroy the Brotherhood. A recently disbanded guild has reformed, deadlier than ever. And an old but unknown enemy has resurfaced, and between the two guilds they are dedicated to wiping out every trace of the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood of Old is a new quest mod for Skyrim, taking place after "Hail Sithis" in the Dark Brotherhood Quest. This 15 quest epic will take you all across the land of Skyrim, as you try and rebuild the Brotherhood and strengthen it against future attacks. How will you deal with these new Brothers and Sisters? Will you be heartless and cold, doing only what is good for the Brotherhood as a whole? Will you be silent or cryptic, letting others fill in the gaps? Will you take the straightforward path, or will you put in a little extra effort and be rewarded proportionally? Will the Brotherhood fail under you, or will you make Sithis proud? Screenshots: September 2, 2016 June 1, 2016 June 23, 2014 May 6, 2013 Progress: DONE ------------------ That's it. Thank you for reading this. Any support is appreciated. It's been a long, challenging journey, and I look forward to sharing it with you all. A big thanks to The Assimilation Lab for hosting our project.
  8. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

Read your quest journal. It tells you that there's a note in your inventory that you have to read.
  9. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

That's not a bad idea for a future update. I never thought to include any because this seemed to be a complete non-issue, but hey, this is a Bethesda game. There's always someone finding a way to break things.
  10. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

Your issue makes no sense to me, but try this. You're saying the ghost in the dilapidated shack is already there, which should mean that you're beyond stage 10 at this point. Regardless, open the console and type in setstage tbo03 31 and try talking to the ghost again.

[SSE PC] The Brotherhood of Old - OPEN BETA View File A Dark Brotherhood quest expansion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition Please read this entirely before installing and asking questions to minimize issues. BETA INFORMATION: Please note, while this release is basically functional, this is a beta release, so you may run into some undiscovered bugs or problems. If you notice anything unusual please describe it to the best of your ability in this thread. That being said... have at it. I worked very hard to bring this mod to you and I hope you enjoy. - Tom Tesoro Known Issues: There are several instances where we are running into a dialogue bug, where you will have the options to talk to an NPC, but you won't be able to select anything to say. If you run into this issue with any of the dialogue, just save and reload and the dialogue will function as normal. This issue is still being evaluated at this time, and is the main reason why this isn't a full release. Official Links: These are the ONLY permitted links. The Brotherhood of Old is a quest mod for Skyrim, taking place after the final quest in the original Dark Brotherhood questline. This 24 quest epic will take you all across the land of Skyrim, as you try and rebuild the Brotherhood and strengthen it against future attacks. Features: Roughly 5 to 7 hours of gameplay depending on your play style. 24 quests, which includes 16 main story quests, and 8 optional side quests. New items including new books, weapons, clothing, and armor. Fully voiced, featuring 26 semi-professional and professional voice actors. Adds a new player home. Uninstalling after you've already started the mod on a save is NOT recommended. Requirements: None! How to Start: You must have already completed the Dark Brotherhood questline in the main game. Not compatible with any mods that change or overhaul the Dawnstar Sanctuary and the Falkreath Sanctuary (called Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in-game.) Any such mods will cause issues and should be removed before playing. Not compatible with any mods that make major story changes to the Dark Brotherhood after the main Dark Brotherhood questline. Not compatible with any mods that make major changes to the NPCs Nazir and Babette, such as changing their locations or behavior. Not compatible with any mods that move the location of the Night Mother. Not compatible with any mods that change the way the Dark Brotherhood eviction system works (if any.) 12. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

I need to know how you got this to happen. Reading the notes in the order they are received should leave you on stage 31 when all is said and done. If you're saying you're on stage 10 after reading the notes, then there is something wrong here.
  13. Going back and working with the Skyrim LE Creation Kit today has made me realize how slow and broken the SSE version is.

  14. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

It's been added to my to-do list. You should absolutely not be at stage 10.
  15. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

That's the information I needed, thanks.
  16. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

Yeah that's the one. If that's the case, I'll need to know what your quest stage is.
  17. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

Check all the corners. It's a note. You need to read it to be able to progress the quest. I'm not sure how you even found the shack without it but good work.
  18. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

That doesn't sound right. I need more details. Did you read the clue you found in markarth? What comes up when you type GetStage TBO03 in the console?
  19. Bug reports. Kill me.

      AndalayBay

Welcome to mod releases. I really hated it when people still found stuff after all the internal testing we did for DBC. Sometimes it’s just the engine not being to keep up with what you’re trying to do. In DBC, it’s the courier trying to find the player. I’ll be adding a script to teleport the courier a bit closer to the player’s current position so he can find the PC more reliably.

    2. Vincent

      Vincent

It's like... stuff that no one had a problem with during testing that shouldn't even be happening.

    3. AndalayBay

      AndalayBay

With Oblivion, I usually found there was a reason. Basically it came down to limitations with the game engine that we needed to find a work-around for. Have you looked at how Skyrim processes scripts? The engine will abandon a script if it runs too long, although I think there’s a way to override that with directives, sort of. Basically you really need to make sure your scripts won’t run too long. Very anal.

  20. I think it's pretty common for older titles to not get as much love as they once did. They are a business, first and foremost, and they're going to focus on what's making them money.
  21. [WIP] Dark Brotherhood Chronicles: Consequences

Oh hey, welcome back. Glad you're doing better.
  22. [RELz] [SSE PC] The Brotherhood of Old - OPEN BETA

Hey sorry for the late reply. I don't check this stuff during the week because of work. Try doing what AB suggested. That seems like the issue here. Specifically with SSE, there is a "Mods" menu on the main menu when you start up the game. You have to tick it as active in there.
