      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. Package Loose Files into a BSA?

In my experience, scripts in a BSA aren't read by the engine.
  2. Attitude Towards Skyrim SSE?

SSE is generally well accepted among the PC community solely based on the fact that we now have the game in 64 bit and that it was free for a while if you owned the original all DLC. I've seen some disdain among console users about having to buy it again, but the addition of mods seems to be a very welcome addition. Most of the Skyrim hate that's popped up after the most recent E3 stems from what people perceive as Bethesda milking the game for all that it's worth and then some by releasing it on Nintendo Switch and a feature in TES Legends. Creation Club is also a huge source of hate right now by people that refuse to look into it and place their pre convinced notions on to it.

  4. [RELz] Oblivion Mod Maker Manual

Very useful. I haven't modded for Oblivion in years. This will be a good refresher course.
  5. They're doing a really big ARG marketing campaign for whatever it is they're working on, so it can't just be any old update. They've had a whole year, and a whole lot more money than they had during development. It'll be interesting to see what this "Waking Titan" thing is.
  6. CobraTV seems to think that this supposed update is going to be them releasing the game that they originally promised to release. If that's the case, I will most definitely be waiting for that.
  7. I built a thing.

So if you haven't heard heard, in the past week I built a new PC. It's based on the AMD Ryzen 7 series of processors. Specifically, the Ryzen 7 1800X, the highest grade consumer model that AMD offers right now (Until Threadripper comes out, at least...) It's comparable to the Intel Core i7 6900K for less than half the price. (Finally, AMD. Been waiting years for you to compete.) Here's the parts list, with links if you want to check out specifics: Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 8 Core Processor Motherboard: MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H110i Extreme Performance Liquid Cooling RAM: G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) Ripjaws V Series DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 850W , Fully Modular Graphics Card: Asus Strix GeForce GTX 970 which I took from my old machine. It's still a decent card, but it's not ideal. It will do until AMD comes out with the Radeon RX Vega. Never had a Radeon before so that'll be interesting. Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow Edition, Full Tower ATX Case - Purchased through Amazon Warehouse Deals for about $40 less than it would usually cost. Unfortunately, there is a giant dent on the top which you will see in the pictures. Their description was inaccurate. It said that just the box had damage. Could probably do something about that. I might. Would have been better off not trying to save and just buying a new one. Oh well, learning experience. There are more things I need to do, such as purchase an SSD and replace it as my main OS drive. That was beyond the budget so I had to use my old storage for now. It's about 3.5 terabytes of combined WD hard drives. Don't even get me started on what a pain it was to get an OS drive to work with a foreign machine. It was like a body rejecting an organ transplant. Overall, with the little time I've spent with it actually working as intended, it's pretty fast. I haven't had a chance to really test it out. I'll be doing some heavy tasks soon, like video editing and I have some huge artwork that I need to work on. It'll also be nice to see how the Skyrim Creation Kit runs on this thing. I wonder if it'll be any faster. Who knows? Not me. I will report back when I do. OG Skyrim Creation Kit loads extremely fast. On my old machine it took a couple of minutes to fully load up the program itself, and then my mod. Everything's very fast now. Under a minute I'd say. I don't expect gaming to be much different, because really, what game uses more than 4 cores at this point? But we'll see. OG Skyrim launches exponentially faster, and the loading screens are almost non-existent. Not sure if that has anything to do with the CPU or the fact that I'm using 32GB of RAM. Pictures in the next post.
  8. I built a thing.

    It's MSI Click BIOS 5.
  9. I built a thing.

2? Good god. Those cards aren't cheap. I'm hoping to get just 1 of whatever the decent Vega option is when that comes out.
  10. I built a thing.

There it is. Behold my messy cable management in all its glory. Comparison to my old PC just so you can see how huge this case is. A closeup shot. The front. Great view of that miraculous dent. Please disregard that awful wire mess in the back. That's on the to-do list.
  11. Tech Advice and Stuffz

I have the Deathadder. Can confirm that it is a nice mouse. Fairly cheap in price, pretty large and overall pretty nice. No side to side scroll wheel though, but that's not a feature I've ever looked for.
  12. Reinstall OS, What would you do?

This is the experience I hear all the time from users of Windows 10. It constantly acting like it knows better than you do when it's allowed to reboot and such. Another thing you can fix. Mine reboots when I tell it to.
  13. Reinstall OS, What would you do?

It's the removing of the bloatware and spying stuff, which you can't entirely do, that has so many people put off about it. Obviously even diehards like myself are going to have to give in at some point, but I'm not going to until I'm able to do my Ryzen upgrade. Until then, Windows 7 is where I'm staying. There are scripts you can run which remove the a lot of the bloatware, and the spying services and programs. Lots of stuff gets blocked through the hosts file too. The only problem I've had is when the Creator's Update came around recently, and there was new stuff to remove and OneDrive came back. I skipped 8 entirely, and I've been running 10 for about a year now. It's been pretty good. Runs better than 7 in my experience too. Sounds like an isolated issue.
  14. Reinstall OS, What would you do?

People need to stop shitting on Windows 10. It's a pretty good OS once you remove all the bloatware and spying stuff.
  15. Information about SKSE64

I mean, regarding SkyUI... It doesn't really need SKSE. You can use SkyUI 2.2 from original Skyrim and remove the SKSE warnings with a flash editor and it works just fine. That's what I did and it's more than usable.
  16. Bethesda.net Discussion

I got a couple of those too. Then again, I did nab the Vincent username there so that may be related.
  17. Supposedly this game is much improved now. They've since added base building, player owned trade freighters, land vehicles, and general improvements, but still none of the promised multiplayer. When I get the time I'm going to start the game up again and see if all that makes it any better. Supposedly there's a combat update coming soon, so maybe I'll wait for that. I'm curious how different it is now though, since I haven't touched it since release. One interesting thing that has come to light is that you were actually able to get to the center of the galaxy before they released the day one patch. If you have an original disc version of the game and play offline you can do it, but according to people that have done it, you just get sent to a new galaxy anyway, so nothing different from the current ending.
  18. Bethesda.net Discussion

It just serves as an annoyance in forums. If their spam detection during registration is good then there should be no need for it in posts.
  19. Download Area Questions

That was actually our reasoning in the first place - that eventually most mods would be for SSE only. Bethesda doesn't have a non-SSE category on their community site; it's SSE only. Can you even upload a non-SSE mod to Beth.net? No. Although they do have a forum for discussing the original Creation Kit if that matters.
  20. Download Area Questions

I voted yes because I think in the long run, more mods will be available in the SSE section than the original section, and as time goes on, people will stop making mods for OG, so the distinction will not really matter eventually. Although my argument could work both ways...
  21. Eastern Canada is being Flooded

I heard about the sand being trucked in to protect the coasts a couple weeks ago. Interesting goings-on in this world right now...
  22. I'm afraid the story manager won't work for this particular instance. At least not to my knowledge of it. I think what we're doing here needs to be specifically scripted.
  23. How bad is it to use a mod with lots of scripts? Mine uses a ton of scripts. Almost 400 at this current point, counting fragments.
  24. [WIP] The Brotherhood of Old

Still working it on every week. It's just a lot of work and I'm just one guy.
