      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

  1. Windows 10

WIKI article on Floppies has a table with capacities and release dates (somewhat confusing as it includes many that never were popular). I suppose the one that lasted longer was the 1,440 kB, 3½-inch floppy. Come to think of it, I guess I had a 3½-inch drive in my PCs for more than 25 years (from late 80's until a few years back).

The first IBM PC (1981) had 128Kb, single side, 5¼-inch floppys. I bought one in mid 1982 (I still have it). A few months later, they released the double sided drives. (Sorry! Couldn't resist).

I am pretty sure I have not watched this one.

Wikipedia >> Spaghetti_Western (and "A Fistful of Dollars." is the one they chose to illustrate the Wiki page)

    Third that.

My favorite Ghibli is Spirited Away. (Special mention to the nice and unusual water-color-style of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.)

    Amadaun should know the answer.

I am sure I've seen this movie . . . but I am not sure which movie it is (as usual). From the very few I could think of, I will guess De-Lovely.

For those that like Airplane, I suggest Zero Hour (1957). The movie Airplane was based on. (Youtube comparison) It is (was) a serious movie, but it is so funny to hear many, many lines reused in Airplane (like " I picked the wrong week to stop smoking")

    Yes, that is the one!

No. Hint: has music, but it is not a musical (in the sense of people singing to each other like in, say, Marry Poppins or South Pacific)
  12. Movie Quote Game

    No. Add about four decades.

[P.S.] Come to think of it . . . Sue is not completely off . . . the characters in that dialog sure are an odd couple themselves.
  14. Movie Quote Game

It would fit nicely, wouldn't it? . . . but no.

Yeah. Good movie. Just checked out of curiosity: it came out about a year after Dolly, The Sheep, which sort of started the discussion about the future of genetic engineering. New movie C1: I know this is going to sound crazy, but I don't know if I'm even gonna be able to *sleep*, I'm so tired. C2: I'll get you a cognac. C1: That'll help me sleep? C2: No, but it makes staying awake a hell of a lot more fun.
