      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

      I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

    I had a look at Hammerfell SOTA on this site and it appears to be outdated, I honestly forget I had uploaded it I'll upload the new version tonight

    Hammerfell R: The Eastern Grasslands is set in the Eastern part of Hammerfell called Goldmoor, Explore the grassy hills and find Loot Similar to Cyrodiils, Fight the Goblins in Coastal Coast Cave or take a rest in the nearby Cyrodiil Inn, Whichever interest you. The land of Hammerfell is diverse and very different to that of Skyrim. The Grasslands may look innocent and friendly but behind every Cave there's some treasure but atlas there's always a Creature looking over head watching your every move.

    A: No, Skyblivion and Skywind are remakes of older Bethesda games in the
    Skyrim engine. This is a remaster of a Province from TES4 Oblivon

    Q: Why not you just port content from Oblivion / Morrowind / other games?
    A: Because this is a violation of Bethesda's EULA, and would be grounds for them to close down the project.

    Q: Will this be released for Consoles?

    I interpreted DD's question as how to generate the LOD files that TES5LODGen uses to create the LOD. Mod authors have to generate the source files. If DD was just trying to generate the LOD for his game, then yes, he should follow those links and have a look at the discussion.

    Developing such large nonprofit-making project is insanely hard. I suppose very few truly understands how hard it is. But because of envolvement of true professionals our project will be as polished as Bethesda's AAA projects. 
    Now, when first installment is closing its finishing line, we are starting our developer's diaries with introduction of each and every one of these professionals.

    Almost everybody in foreign communities of Skyrim and Oblivion have at least heard about Naihaan. In particular, i often chat with japanese members of the community, and when i mention she creates clothing and armor for our project, delighted they answer with: "Naihaan?! Are you serious?! That's awesome!" 
     
    But how does development of visual apperance look like? 
     
    First, we're deciding on references used for concept-art. Without a doubt we start from official art and screenshots from older TES games, where events took place in Hammerfell. 

     
    Then, we design our own concepts based on references: 
     

     
    After that, Naihaan start working on 3D model. The hardest work goes on all fronts: Naihaan prefer working in Blender, powerful free 3d creation suit, textures are done from scratch in Adobe Photoshop. Also other applications are used such as Pixologic Zbrush. 
     

     
    Every model requires proper UV-map and skeletal rigging. Hard work, but well worth the effort as result is fantastic: 
     

     
    Of course, sometimes Naihaan can start from scratch using only her imagination. A lot of her creations were done this way.

    As most of you know, we're having our house renovated. These are major renovations that involve completely gutting the basement and first floor. We had the floor at the front of the house moved up so that the whole main floor is now level. The front door was at street level and as soon as you came in the front door, you had to climb a flight of stairs to enter the living room. Then there was another step that you needed to climb to get to the dining room and the rest of the main floor. We have removed all those stairs and moved the front door up so the stairs are now outside the house. This gives us a lot more room on the main floor and allows us to move the coat closet and powder room to be near the front door, where they should be. Now guests don't have to walk halfway through the house to hang their coats!
     
    We were supposed to be in our new basement by Christmas. Not only has that not happened yet, I had to tell the lead contractor that I was going to bring in my own painter since his guys were doing such a lousy job. My painter has been fixing up the mess in the basement for the past week and won't be done until early next week.
     
    I won't be able to return to modding until the basement is finished and we can move downstairs. The basement has always been the location of our office and where we have all our computers set up, including our gaming PC's. We moved them into a small room upstairs, but that was too hot and small to be a suitable workspace, so I haven't be able to use my gaming PC for over a year. I've been using my iPad to visit and post on the forums. I haven't even played any PC games for over a year. I wanted to check something quickly in Oblivion a few weeks ago and I couldn't even remember how to open the menus.
     
    I use my Mac to maintain the server and the forums and I do have access to that, but I use both my PC and the Mac when I upgrade the forums, so I haven't been able to do that either. I haven't even been able to set up my new Mac yet!
     
    Once we move downstairs, the guys will get started on the main floor and the second floor. We're having a lot of work done on those floors as well. We started this process in the fall of 2015 with initial consultations and the design of the new layout. Architectural drawings had to be created that were sent into the city for approval. Construction on this scale requires permits. We got the permits and work actually started in March, 2016. At the time the lead contractor said that the work would take anywhere from six months to a year and it now looks like it will be over a year by the time they are finally done.
     
    Anyway I just wanted to explain to everyone what my status is because people have been wondering what's going on, which is quite understandable. I hope I'll be back in a couple of weeks. Once the basement is done, we have a lot of stuff to move down and we'll need some strong arms (and backs) to get the furniture and appliances moved. I still expect my modding and site maintenance time to be sporadic until the renovations are completely done. It's really hard to concentrate when you're working in a construction zone.
     
    IP.Board will be discontinuing support of version 3.x in April, so we will have to upgrade to version 4 before then. They will also be discontinuing their chat service at that time as well. We don't use the chat room anyway, so that won't affect us. I'll have to upgrade the forums to the latest version of 3.x before upgrading to version 4 because all the migration scripts were made for the latest version. I'll post an announcement when I'm ready to do the upgrades.

    Is there any way I could be of assistance? I'm a great vocal imitator and I'm pretty tech savvy and my girlfriend and I are in school for computer anination (including UV mapping I skimmed over) plus the creation kit is my forte.
