      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

      I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

    Trying again. I've reinstalled the game, and then tried Sharlikran's Mash. But I'm getting error messages and it wont open. When it tells you to choose your Morrowind directory, I choose it. Then it says there is no Morrowind.ini. However I've already played the game, and saved. It should be working just fine.

    Thank you so much, Leo! I will install this program and try to learn to use it. It seems really handy. I think that MPP gets installed with MSGO. I will have to install the new one. But what do you mean I should uninstall it? Is there a function for that in Wrye? Thanks again.

    I don't know why you don't think I did that. I did. And I backed up each phase onto an external hard drive. Used up almost 64 gigs. Everything was working fine, as far as I could tell. It all ran. It's running now. Except now the warning text is changing from new game to new game. That doesn't seem right.

    Yes Darklustre is a her. I think Andalay may have been missing the point that we aren't talking about cleaning saves? I reinstalled the whole game. So I have started a new game. In fact, several times. And I still come up with these errors. Saving, exiting and coming back clears a few. Then cleaning that save has seemed to help. But there are still warnings. I'm not sure why these are happening from a new game. Everything was installed in updated form. So that can't be it. In another bizarre turn, I just started another new game and have a totally different set of errors now. How could this be? Same mods! Unable to locate Enchanting 'hair shirt'.     Ok so I'm really frustrated. I spent the past week reinstalling the whole, dang game. Now I have a whole new set of problems and I can't understand why. The mods are all updated and there shouldn't be these problems. NoM seems to not to give penalties to the character anymore. Water Life isn't filling bottles of water, even though it's loaded before NoM. And now I'm getting all these warning texts and I don't know why. I'm hoping this is an easier fix. Mlox updated the load order. I've cleaned the saves and tried and tried. Any thoughts, guys? Unable to locate Enchanting 'hair shirt'.   6. How do I install this?

    Ok I'm going to feel silly here, but I've never installed a mod like this before and I'm not understanding the way I've had it explained to me. How do you replace textures? Am I supposed to delete the existing texture files in my Data Files folder? Or is it a process that happens when I install the mod? What does "copy the textures into the root of the texture files folder" mean? Could someone give me the "For Dummies" step by step on this mod? I'm desperate to play with it.     How do I do that? I've tried manually deleting the files out of Data files, but that has really messed the game up before. Also can anyone say why I'm not seeing files in Mash anymore? There are quite a lot missing but they show in mlox. Thanks.

    The TR_Data is what is supposed to be removed before you install the new TR. I took it to mean unclicking it. You aren't supposed to use it. Tamriel_Data is supposed to replace those files. These are the data files for TR. I can't use the abotWaterLifeTRaddon because it needs the TR_Data that is supposed to be replaced. Unless I'm badly confused in my reading of the readme I posted a few back. I don't know what you mean about moving a mod up or down? Do you mean in Mash? How do I move it? I tried dragging it. I don't see any arrow keys. The only way I know to move is to redate. Can you explain please? My mods were in the right order before I reinstalled MSGO and then it clicked everything and messed up the order. I think it also locked times in Mash because I've never known to do that. And mlox redated everything but it still seems messed up. I didn't realize the game got this messed up from reinstalling MSGO

    So that happened when I resinstalled MSGO. It clicks all mods for some reason. I'm glad you caught it. But I'm really confused. I'm not seeing it in Mash at all. I've gone up and down my mod list several times and I'm not seeing two. I'll take a screen shot, showing the mods in alphabetical order. You can see that the only Morrowind Patch that I'm shown is the one I unclicked. What am I missing? I'm not using Hotfix. That is something that comes with the updated Tamriel Rebuilt. The readme and video didn't say to use it so I haven't selected it. If it's come up, it's getting autoclicked in Mash.

    Ok I'm sold on starting over. The weirdest thing happened. I'm looking through Mash, while I'm downloading mods again. Ashlander tent, and it's bazillion plug-ins have all disappeared out of the mods tab. It's no longer there. I don't know how that is possible or why that happened. I haven't messed around in there at all. You can see it in my load order in Mlox. But it's not showing at all in Mash. That seems really weird. That has never happened before. Do you have any idea why that happened, out of curiosity?

    Ok thanks guys. I was using the official installation video. The readme says exactly what the video did: "The final step before playing the new content is to ensure that the data files are enabled in Morrowind's Launcher. Simply launch Morrowind and ensure the Tamriel_Data.esm and TR_Mainland.esm are ticked. You may optionally enable the included TR_Preview.esp file if you want to test our unfinished content and the TR_Travels.esp file if you want to try an early draft of our cross-provincial, Vvardenfell-integrated travel network, though those files may result in your saves being incompatible with future updates. As such, we recommend using a different save for those files." When I have enabled TR_Mainland.esm, it was causing problems with those missing files, and Mlox said there was a conflict. It was also auto-selecting the old TR_Data when I tried to use it. So I wasn't sure what was happening. As for the correct add-on- I haven't seen any new add-ons with this new TR release. So I just opted not to use them. But I can't understand why that is messing up the whole game? It shouldn't give me all those error messages before I've even tried to load a game, right? By "updating the Master List" does that mean that I click on a mod and look in the bottom right panel, and uncheck dependent mods and save? Could you make sure I'm understanding this correctly? I've been repairing my game saves. But all those error messages I've posted show up before I've even tried loading a game. I think that's wrong? I mean that there is a file in the new release of TR that is Mainland_1709_Hotfix. I was trying to use that because I'm really needing one hot fix about now. Thought it couldn't hurt.     Thank you. That was so helpful. I didn't even know that got locked! So that made my game run longer, but it is still crashing. I used mlox and updated the load order. But I'm still getting all the MCA TR error messages. Do you think that could be the problem now, or is something else wrong with my load order? Is it something I can fix? The problem might be that I followed a video on how to install the new TR. It says to click Mainland and Tamriel_Data. But Mlox says that Mainland needs TR_Data to run. So I tried it with just the Mainland Hotfix version. That seems to work for no more error messages in Mlox. But that wasn't covered in the video. And when I go back to Mash- it's rechecked Mainland. I didn't know it would do that? I still get the same error messages when I start up the game. What seems strange to me is that they are there in every game. Even starting a new one, or saving, doesn't keep them from showing up again. They seem to be from the add-ons that no longer function with the new TR/MCA. But they are just add-on plug-ins so I wouldn't think that would give me permanent error messages or crash the game? I did try running those plug-ins again and they get rid of the messages. But the game crashes and Mlox says not to use them. This has me pretty baffled.

    That is what Wrye keeps changing them to, is what I'm understanding. That was from the message I got from Wrye saying it's redated them all. But it does that every time I open up Wrye. So I can't seem to fix it. Also, I keep getting error messages related to MCA and TR. I updated to the new TR. Now MCA TR_Addon doesn't work. I tried a new game but I'm still getting error messages.
