  1. Welcome to TAL - Introduce Yourself!

Thank you! Guestbooks are used rarely today. I think it's polite leaving a note if the visitors enjoyed the site, have feedback or just want to say hello. Yes, I like old-fashioned things

That's truly a funny one The deed is done: Selenesshadowrealm.com After about one month of tinkering, my website is online! Now I can finally dedicate myself to my mod projects again.

Oh, I love Dwemer stuff. Thank you very much for translating the mod. It really looks incredibly good. They are so many great mods out there and I downloaded a lot of them. Since I create mods most of the time I rarely play the game (it's a "testthrough" for now, so when I start the game I only test some parts of my mods). But if I continue my real playthrough, this mod will definitely find a place in my mod list.

VOT? After the recovery of the site I removed some images and some lines of code which could responsible for the deletion. Before the site was deleted I tried to customize some things with Javascript. Maybe they didn't like my coding. I wanted to achieve this animated effect (the demonstration is at the bottom of the page): https://www.sitepoint.com/javascript-copy-to-clipboard/ When looking over the code for the copy to clipboard buttons anew I noticed that the whole CSS and Javascript part was removed. But I'm not sure if I did it myself as I tried to transfer the code to the footer (I wanted to place the code centrally for all subpages). The code in the footer did not display correctly (it worked fine at the previous location). Shortly after I pasted the code to the new location I was logged out. I could log in again but my site was gone. There was only an error message left. Maybe it was the Javascript code or one or more of the images. One image of a character was a lot more revealing but you didn't see the delicate things because it was shot from behind. I downloaded images from Pixabay and used them for the blog posts as featured image. The site stated that the images are licensed under Creative Commons and can be used without asking for permission or setting a link to the source. But maybe some users who uploaded the images to Pixabay took images from other sites which have other copyright terms and a couple of the images I have used could be affected by this, who knows. Some many possibilities... It's time to stop pondering. And I can't be bothered asking Jimdo which content caused this mayhem because I'm simply done with this. All I want to do now is to publish the new version of my site. Yesterday, I made a contract with a paid hosting service. The hosting package I chose has three domains for free and I don't need to pay for the first three months. When this period is over, I pay 4.95 EUR (4.83 USD according to the current exchange rate) for everything monthly. The account and the domain were activated today. No, I'm not the same. My name on the old and on the new Bethsoft forums is still Selene310187. I don't think that will change in the near future Thanks. Yes, it isn't easy to find stuff on the internet again when you don't know the exact name. I have no clue either. It's possible that the music package got deleted due to copyright infringement. That's why I chose tracks which are licensed under Creative Commons ("CC0", "by," "by-sa", and/or "by-nc"). I wasn't sure about the "nd" ("no derivatives") one, therefore I didn't include any "nd" licensed tracks in my music package. According to this table, which I have discovered just now, I could have included them as well. It would be a different case if I added the "nd" ones to a video because "synching music in timed relation with a moving image is always considered an adaptation" and this would be against the "No Derivatives" clause.

I have good news about my old Jimdo site. Today, I found out that the site is online again. Recently, I got an e-mail from the support stating that they removed the site due to a violation of their terms but they didn't tell me which content was responsible for the deletion. One of my several e-mails to the support had probably reached the right person to solve my problem. Nevertheless, I continue to work on the new version of Selene's Shadow Realm and as soon as it's finished I will leave a note on the old site that I've moved to another server. After that is done I declare this case closed. It was a odyssey for me but I learned a lot from it. I learned that you can get a better hearing from somebody when you keep trying and it's good to have a backup plan. This backup plan (working on a new version of the site) improved my knowledge in Wordpress, HTML, CSS and PHP. Now I have website which looks just how I wanted it to look. I took me a lot a more to time to customize it but I think it was worth it.

This could be another reason. I think I should check this out and make an appointment with the ENT. I don't remember the last time being at the ENT, it must be years ago. @Schtearn I heard "Laurel" but after a short pause, I heard "Yanny" for a few seconds, after that "Laurel" again. According to this video 47 % of people hear "Yanny" and 53 % hear "Laurel". Thanks for bringing this up, it's an interesting phenomenon.

It's mostly when the people have a stronger accent, slang, no clear pronounciation (e.g. when they are muttering), or are talking too quietly. Another reason is that my hearing can be a bit delayed sometimes (it's as if my brain has hiccups during the information processing). So when they speak too fast, I can't get everything what they said and ask them to repeat something (or I need to rewind when watching movies). I have similar problems with my native language for the same reasons. Some people, like my mother, become a bit angry when I don't understand. They repeat what they said too loud (so it hurts my ears a little). I already did an hearing test, and my hearing is fine; I only have some minor problems when the surroundings are too noisy.

Hello there. You heard my call, that's fantastic. I'm not alone. Alons-y! Geronimo! (Well, does 12 have a catchphrase, besides "Clara?!") I like all Doctors of New Who, 12 is my favourite one. I still need to catch up on the Classic Who (have only watched some episodes with the third Doctor so far).

Thanks for welcoming me, Sue @AndalayBay Cool, I'm not the only whovian on this forum. Regarding learning another language and forgetting most of it, I can relate to that, too. I experienced this with French (grade 7 - 12) and Spanish (only during the apprenticeship). I think I could revive my knowledge when I start learning again. There so many other things I wanted to learn (like programming) and having problems with time management and decision making (and sticking to decisions once made) often thwart my ambitions (I call this procrastination mode). But sometimes I enter my flow mode and I can work on projects all night long with no need to sleep and (force myself to) stop when the first morning light shines through my window. It's no wonder that my sleep-wake rhythm is delayed being the ultimate night owl.

Thank you. Yes, German is my first language. I learned English since grade 5 of the primary school (the primary schools in the state where I lived went to grade 6, the ones in the other states to grade 4) until grade 13 of the high school ("Gymnasium" in Germany). After that I learned "Business English" during my apprenticeship as a "foreign language assistant" ("Fremdsprachenassistent") (2 years). Although, I did the apprenticeship about 10 years ago and haven't worked in this kind of field, I try using English everyday reading Endlish speaking forums, articles, books or watching movies in English (but I still need English subtitles in most cases). I think I can write better in English than talk irl (this applies to German as well; I'm an introvert, I guess ). However, I'm proud that I mananged some conversations with people I met during my trip to Cardiff last year. Why Cardiff? Because it was my last chance to visit the Doctor Who Experience before it closed its doors forever . Yeah, I'm a whovian .

Nice to meet you, Schtearn. I like people who don't take themselves too seriously . It took me a bit longer to understand what you said though because I had to look up some words like ning-nong, never heard of that. I'm glad that there are search engines and dictonaries .

  14. Welcome to TAL - Introduce Yourself!

Hi, folks! I've been around making mods for many years, mostly for Oblivion. At the moment, my main focus is to rebuild my website from scratch using Wordpress instead of a website builder. After that is done, I may dive into learning more about Java (I bought a Java programming book recently) and/or improve my 3D sculpting skills. I'm rather new to programming (I can code a little PHP, HTML and CSS to customize e.g. a Wordpress template). My skills in 3D modeling slowly become better but I feel that I still need a lot more time than the average modeler to create a model. Maybe I need to practice more often to become faster. This isn't easy when I'm struggling with motivation. I just keep going though.
