Monitors: New Graphics Drivers, older H/W

Recommended Posts

It's confirmed on this second setup that the newer drivers will always give precedence to anything attached to an HDMI port than to the DVI port.

So in a dual monitor setup the DVI monitor will always be 2 and the DPMI will be 1.

Can't be changed. Yeccch.  :blues:

Lovely. Another reason to stick with Windows 7. It's probably something similar with ATI cards. Even with the older drivers on Win 7, my display that's connected with DPMI never goes to sleep. I have to shut it off.

Good grief! I stick with video drivers that came out a couple of releases after my card was released. At that point, the vendor is focusing on my card and I'm hoping that they've ironed out the bugs within a couple of releases after that. I won't let my video drivers update beyond that.

My monitor that's connected via DPMI is number 1, but I was able to change the layout with my video driver. When Windows boots, my primary monitor is activated, not the monitor that's connected with DPMI, so I'm happy.
