      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

RIP Gord Downy

Recommended Posts

Canada lost a bit of its soul today. Gord Downy was the lead singer of the Tragically Hip. He was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last year and we all hoped for a miracle.

He was born in Kingston Ontario and he played in a band with his high school buddies. I didn't really like their music, but I loved the stories his songs told. He didn't care about stardom. He sung about Canada and he sung from his heart. Our Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau called him a friend and cried on television tonight as he announced his passing and paid tribute his friend.

Downy loved hockey and sung about hockey. He sung about our towns. Trudeau called him Canada's Shakespeare.

He spent the last couple of years of his life fighting for indigenous rights and the plight of our native peoples. He started the process of reconciliation.

Fan or not, we will miss him dearly. Goodbye Gord.

Here's one of their songs. Bobcaygeon is a community about 3 hours north-east of Toronto. It has a direct connection to me in that my mother moved up there a few years before she died. That's typical of Tragically Hip songs. Even if you don't like their music, their songs mean something to you. I liked the Hip at first, but their music was really over-played on the radio and it got tiring after a while.

I was afraid of that. VEVO is notorious for not playing in other countries. Let's see if this one works:

If you can view that one, you'll see how sick he was. That concert was their last.

Here's another version that might work:

If not, try searching for "Tragically Hip Bobcaygeon".

It's not my loss, personally. It's Canada's loss. :) Gord Downy was a Canadian hero.
