      Orphan Attachments   07/31/2018

I have been doing some housekeeping lately and I've noticed that I had a lot of orphaned attachments. Attachments get orphaned when the PM or post is deleted without removing the attachment first. Deleting a PM or post does not delete the attachment and the file or image remain on the server. I'd like to ask all members to go through their attachments and delete any attachments you don't need anymore or those that have been orphaned. Where can I get a list of my attachments? Click on your display name in the upper right corner of the forums and pick "My Attachments" from the drop-down list. How can I tell an attachment is orphaned? If the PM has been deleted, you'll see a message like this in your attachment list: Unfortunately there is no message if the post has been deleted, so please check your old posts. We do purge old birthday threads every once in a while. Also some hosted projects have been shut down, so you may have orphaned attachments on one of those locations. Thanks!

If you guys do look at playing Morrowind, don’t forget about our Morrowind Modding wiki! It has tons of stuff about installing and using mods as well as making them. Also if you’d like to contribute some info on OpenMW, let me know and I’ll set you up with an account. We had to turn off registrations due to spammers.

I dare to say that the Morrowind Modding Wiki is not up to date and is in need of someone or a couple of people who are intrested to update the Morrowind Modding Wiki.

A lot of things have happen since it got started and at the same time a lot of information become outdated.

I echo Leo's point. For example, I found the page on the official DLCs very helpful but full of dead links and links to older mods that may have newer alternatives. I could see myself trying to update those articles, but I feel like I ought to do more testing and otherwise playing around with modded Morrowind before doing so.

On the other hand, I'd be comfortable with putting together a shortish summary article on modding with OpenMW.

I was not aware of the Morrowind Modding Wiki, AB, so thanks for sharing.

Leo, have you run Open Morrowind?  I'd like feedback, but I suppose I could browse their site.  I check it periodically to see where the project stands, but don't venture into it's depths.

I just host them, I don't maintain the content.

But you are content, aren't you?

Sadly no.  I haven't played OpenMW, but I did downloaded it years ago.  If you want to know what other people thinks of OpenMW then you might need to join their forum.

Yeah, AB.  Maybe someone else can spot the script bug?  A fresh set of eyes can be useful.  Either that or step away for a night and wake up refreshed and take a look.  That usually helps me, and I've read from programmers to do that if a script/program is giving you fits.

I am ready to toss Oblivion out the window! I’m working on DBC and a script is NOT cooperating.

I think Schtearn's advice is good, so post the script and see if someone can give you a clue about what's wrong with the script.  Of course if that doesn't help then why not toss out the script and start over. :)

No no, it’s nothing like that. I might post an article about it although I don’t know how many people would be interested at this point. It’s the stupid way Bethesda stores disposition and the fact that they didn’t give us a function to set it to a specific value.

Oh, oh.  You're having trouble with a limitation of the system.  I sort of figured you wouldn't be stumped by scripting.  If you have an extra minute to write something about your woes, I'd read it.  No biggie though.
