About a hour or two I went down town just to buy another Steam card, so I took the opportunity to check my self what a decent VR headset would cost and after a few minutes it became clear to me that I can forget it for at least 5-10 years from now

That was precisely the advice I was going to give. Wait until either the price for a brand new good/top range headset has dropped to about one fifth what it is now, or (more likely) VR has been abandoned again like it was the first time.

Unless you have cash to throw around, I’d say wait too. I’m not sure if it will be abandoned this time though. They are finding uses for it in industry and medicine. One example I saw on America’s Got Talent (of all places!) was to help people get over phobias. They used it on Howie Mandel since one of his many phobias is fear of heights.

You know, I often give a similiar advice to people I know in RL.

But do you know what the funny thing is, I mean when I visit a computer store I talked to a guy and after a while I told him that basically all hardware are sold in US-dollars and when the Swedish currency is low today it will cost more to buy hardware.

The guy even tried to questioned me about the importance in paying a different currency than US-dollars, but I stood up for my argument and shortly after I left the shop.  Clearly he doesn't had a clue what I was talking about.
