Lethe

I'm slowly updating her trope list to reflect recent...twists...that were totally not obvious from the beginning. Nooo. Not at all.

See, Chick? See what happens when you aren't around for days at a time? I've figured out Lethe's entire backstory and family. Her older half-sister might show up at some point, for the lulz.

Damn it, I need all those 3E Eberron sourcebooks. *goes back to scribbling down notes*

ooc - since she's basing the character from the 4ed ebberon book... probably.

Oh, missed that bit.... :wallbashdc1:

Admittedly I did see mention of a campaign guide... though that is different to the players guide....

Yes, I have, why?

Ah missed the part where you were basing this character off the 4th Ed one, I saw 3ed mentioned.....

When you're standing on the side of a hill

Feeling like your day may be done

Here it comes, strawberry smog

Chasing away the sun

Don't let those precious moments fool you

Happiness is getting you down

A rainbow never smiles or blinks

It's just a candy colored frown

You were going on at half-past seven

Now it's going on a quarter to nine

All the angels want to know

Are you lost or treading water?

And you're going on your fifteenth bender

But you've only got a matter of time

Yes we've all got seeds to sow

Not everyone's got lambs to slaughter

When the night wind starts to turn

Into the ocean breeze

And the dew drops sting and burn

Like angry honey bees

That is when you hear the song falling from the sky

Happy yesterday to all

We were born to die

Sometimes you're filled with the notion

The afterlife's a moment away

You want to tell someone the way that you feel

But then you ain't got nothing to say

You fight for freedom from devotion

A battle that will always begin

With somebody giving you a piece of advice;

By the way you're living in sin

Now there's never gonna be an intermission

But there'll always be a closing night

Never entertain those visions

Lest you may have packed your bagage

First impressions are cheap auditions

Situations are long goodbyes

Truth so often to living dormant

Good luck walks and bullshit flies

When the headlights guide your way

You know the place is right

When the treetops sing and sway

Don't go to sleep tonight

That is when you see the sign

Luminous and high:

Tomorrow's not what it used to be

We were born to die

Happy yesterday to all

We were born to die

First Fight. Then Fiddle.

First fight. Then fiddle. Ply the slipping string

With feathery sorcery; muzzle the note

With hurting love; the music that they wrote

Bewitch, bewilder. Qualify to sing

Threadwise. Devise no salt, no hempen thing

For the dear instrument to bear. Devote

The bow to silks and honey. Be remote

A while from malice and from murdering.

But first to arms, to armor. Carry hate

In front of you and harmony behind.

Be deaf to music and to beauty blind.

Win war. Rise bloody, maybe not too late

For having first to civilize a space

Wherein to play your violin with grace.

Okay, can't find this song online for the life of me outside of the itunes snippet. It's 'Inside, Outside (reprise)' by Storm Large.

Inside, outside, all around

We hide in plain sight, head down

I...I thought I would die

In a blaze of electric sparks onstage

Turns out...I die all the time

Then I get up, and I try like hell to shine

And all I want to be

Is right now in the next me

And I thank God for all the insanity

But oh, I'm not a shining star

I don't know who you are

I'm just that girl who's dying

To go on giving you all of me

Sloppy and crazy

Tripping and falling and flying

(Open your eyes)

I am alive, nothing, unknown

(Open your eyes)

Sloppy, crazy, it's all right believe me

Open your eyes

Inside, outside, all around

We hide in plain sight, head down

Inside, outside, all around

We hide in plain sight, head down

Oh, I'm not a shining star

But I have come this far

Being that girl who's dying

To go on giving you all of me

Sloppy and crazy

Tripping and falling and flying

And oh, I'm not a shining star

But I have come this far

Being that girl who's dying

To go on giving you all of me

Sloppy and crazy

Tripping and falling and flying

Head down, head down, head down, head down...

(Lethe would also like to inform you that 'Put It In' also works for her, in all its raunchy screwd-up-ness, and that 'Eight Miles Wide' - which probably can be found on youtube - is damn funny. But not safe for work. Or sanity.)

Song for Jin. Well, Old!Jin, when Lethe's not bringing out the nasty side of him, and all the little changeling kids.

Pass me that lovely little gun

My dear, my darling one

The cleaners are coming, one by one

You don't even want to let them start

...Forgive us now for what we've done

It started out as a bit of fun

Here, take these before we run away

The keys to the gulag

I'm posting this as much for the video as for the song. The song is good; the video makes it uncannily Lethe.

Lyrics:

Regrets collect like old friends

Here to relive your darkest moments

I can see no way, I can see no way

And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh

But I like to keep some things to myself

I like to keep my issues strong

It's always darkest before the dawn

And I've been a fool and I've been blind

I can never leave the past behind

I can see no way, I can see no way

I'm always dragging that horse around

And our love is pastured such a mournful sound

Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground

So I like to keep my issues strong

But it's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh woah

I am done with my graceless heart

So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart

Cause I like to keep my issues strong

It's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh woah

And given half the chance would I take any of it back?

It's a fine romance but it's left me so undone

It's always darkest before the dawn

Oh woah, oh woah...

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't

So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my rope

And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat

Cause looking for heaven, for the devil in me

Looking for heaven, for the devil in me

- But why the hell did I let it happen to me?

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh woah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh woah

UNCANNY.

I mean, I was getting to the end, with her on the tree and thinking, "If this were the Inn, this would be where Temvi would show up" and BAM - *cuddles*

I KNOW, RIGHT? *watches forever*

And and and the dance with the masked man that starts with him circling her at about 2:02 with her being all disturbingly passive...yeaaaaaaaah.

So this song has been on her playlist for a while, yeah? Thing is, I haven't been exactly sure why. WELL NOW I KNOW.

Holy shit is this ever appropriate.

(the video too. I wish I could find a clip from just the movie that didn't have dialogue in the middle of the song - because the dialogue, while often appropriate, is that of an old married couple. NOT OKAY).
