Otar

My lack of participation in the inn has gone on long enough! Never actually participated in forum roleplays, so expect terrible writing and clichés aplenty! Also, sorry for the incoming wall of text - I had nothing better to do.

Name: Otar Red-Spear

Race: Nord

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Occupation: Nordic-Clever-Man-in-training

Appearance: Fairly tall, for a Nord, which makes him a near-giant to other men. Has pale skin, indicating a Southern Nord, and the red hair of a warrior. Despite this, he is very thin and weak-muscled, abd not used to physical exertion or manual labour. He wears fairly simple clothes, a dark burgundy shirt worn over a quilted leather vest. (Also pants, which must not be forgotten.) The real item of worth, though, is his backpack. For a start, it's massive - he nearly walks bent double with the weight of the thing. It also appears to be full. Hanging from various straps and peeking out the top of pockets, onlookers can see the following:

A tent, bedroll, and pillow; two plates, several mugs, a wide assortment of cutlery, a frying pan, a dagger, a horn, an alembic, a plethora of little glass vials, filled with various liquids; five mushrooms, eight books, a bag of seeds, a bag of cheese, several heads of lettuce, a pair of calipers, a wooden pole, a travel lantern, an oil pouch, three carrots, and a sock.

And that's just the outside.

Background: The Red-Spears are a clan of great prestige in Skyrim, and for many, many generations, have turned out gifted scholars and mages. Of course, knowledge is generally frowned upon by the Nords, but every tribe needs someone that can count. Someone that can read. Someone that can conduct diplomatic relations, and if need be, hurl fireballs at diplomatic relations. For centuries, the Red-Spear family have fufilled that need.

But the times, they are a changin'. Imperialisation. Civilisation. Education. The people of Skyrim are learning, and the Clever Men of clan Red-Spear are becoming increasingly redundant. The numbers began to dwindle - once everyone is smart, why would one marry a tribe of weaklings and magic-weilding weirdos? Otar is one of the last of his people. His father, Thovar, is court wizard to the Jarl of Riften, and his mother, Perrif, is a teacher at the local orphanage. Clan Red-Spear needs prestige, and it needs it fast. About a week ago, Otar ran off in the dead of night, taking a half-houses worth of supplies with him. His mission: to become a famous diplomat and trader, and bring back honour to clan Red-Spear!

Unfortunately, it seems reading books about famous adventurers and merchants does not help him to become one, and this perplexes him greatly - is the point of a book not to teach someone how to do something?

Hmmmm. He doesn't seem too cliche. Coupla typos, but generally seems well-rounded as a concept, I mean how many people make Nordic Scholar-Mages? XD

Any questions, or concerns, lemme know. When you join, post in the Coatroom first. When you enter a thread in the Inn, the fireplace, or keep, or the inn itself. Always end the post like: [Otar has entered the Inn], same goes if you leave a thread for another, you'd do [Otar has left so and so]. You've probably seen in our current posts, or at least have a basic idea. :P Any questions and like, feel free to ask Me, Amaduan, or Morrigain. We're usually pretty helpful.

Also, OOC messages, that's out of character messages, are always prefaced with "OOC:".

Woo, new people! Welcome!

He looks great. As Ona explained, enter the Inn through the Coatroon. The Main Floor subforum has threads for each table in the Inn, and Upstairs has threads for private rooms. Once you've gotten to know some other characters, you can go on Adventures with them outside the Inn proper. Right now I think most of the characters who are in the Inn are clustered around the Fireplace, so I'd suggest heading there. :)

A little note - we've got a TON of characters (all currently in Adventure threads) who are from Oblivion-era Tamriel, including a bunch of Telvanni from Morrowind. So if Otar's from Skyrim-era, this could get really, really whacky.

...We like whacky.

Nah, he's Oblivion era. From a more tribal/traditional background than Skyrim's just-like-imperials-but-taller Nords. (I hate Skyrim's portrayal of the Nordic culture, as you may have noticed.)

And thanks for the help, guys - though it's nothing I didn't already know. I wouldn't jump headfirst into something like this without having a look around first.

Just make sure to tell me when I write or say something that sounds incredibly stupid.

...You looked around first? AMA, QUICK. WE'VE GOTTA HIDE THE PORN.

(It can get just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle NSFW around here. We should start handing out Newbie Starter Kits containing brain bleach, therapeutic tea, and flamethrowers to fight off the more rabid characters. Ahem.)

:whistle::D

Oh my yes... Wait until Rilan and Jin get back into the Inn. They're the fun ones. XD

I believe that once Jin arrives at the Inn, he will be placed in an upstairs room with about 89438043284 locks on the door and NOT LET THE FUCK OUT.

There will be a ticket dispenser outside where interested parties can take a number and wait their turn. BYO weaponry.

You've been indoctrinated? :lmao:

It just means that you'll be able to create new topics in some of the forums. For example, you decide to set up a new adventure. Being an Inn Regular will allow you to do that. But you'd need to set that up with the other members first.
